Description; The present church was built in the 13th Century in the reign of Henry III, including the highly decorated chancel arch, although this was moved to the west end during the restoration by Gilbert Scott in 1872.

During the restoration, two parts of an Anglo Viking cross shaft were found. They were initially set up in the churchyard but later moved inside, under the tower. The shaft has a socket in the top (the present cap is modern) suggesting the shaft originally had a cross head, which may still be hidden somewhere within the structure of the church.

Description; The cross was relocated in 2025 to opposite the south door. The opportunity was taken to correct the mistaken alignment of the stones, from when they were originally placed while outside and also under the tower. The mistake resulted in the top section being 180 degrees out.
