Kirk Hammerton
Location; A minor road south off the A59, between York & Harrogate, 2 miles east of the A1M. Multimap
Description; The tower dates from c950 attached to an earlier nave and chancel.
All the windows, belfry and door of the tower are original. The south walls, and east wall of the chancel are original with much later windows but the north walls have been mostly removed to incorporate the nave of the Victorian additions. Thus the Saxon remains now form the south aisle of the church.
The South door of the nave is original but much restored. Visible from inside is the trace of a blocked door left of the south window.
