St Wilfrid's

Monk Fryston

Location; On the A63, about 3 miles east of the A1. Multimap

Description; Dedicated to St Wilfrid, All that is visible of the saxon church is the lower parts of the west tower, which dates from soon before the Norman Conquest. The present belfry is much later. The Saxon belfry openings can clearly be seen, the east one being inside the present church. The typically saxon side-alternating quoins are partially obscured by the tower buttresses.
