Stillingfleet
Location; Take the A19 south out of York. After about 7 miles turn west onto a minor road marked Escrick. 2½ miles later turn north onto the B1222. Stillingfleet church is on the right. Multimap
Description;
Stillingfleet church is known from it's “Viking” door.
It predates any remains in the church and there is evidence that it
may have been made for use elsewhere in the 10th Century.
Until 1990 it served as the south-west door. After conservation, it
now hangs almost in it's original open position inside the doorway.

The Southwest doorway itself is a particularly fine Norman doorway,
now with a new, less decorated door..
